As I felt lost in Jerusalem, I felt confused in Safed. The highest placed city in Israel is full of synagogues and artists. You practically don’t see anyone but Orthodox Jews and Taglits. It is supposed to have a special atmosphere and it truly does to some extent. A beautiful corners with neverending stairs and playing children are truly captivating calm islands in the hot, loud Jewish city.
This pleasant side is juxtaposed by parts of the city where the look of some houses resembles an abandoned Communist buildings that nobody cares about. They were hideous from the beginning and now, on top of that, they are destroyed and vandalized.
This schizophrenic character together withou numerous stairs, small streets, corners and people left me utterly confused.
